Hello South Church Family. It is my joy & privilege to share the collected reports of our various church plants. At present, I have letters from two of the four and am thrilled to say how faithfully our God is at work in these zealous and compassionate couples.
A few weeks back you may recall the blessing of having Kyle Kroger in the South Church pulpit. He was very persuasive about the need for proactive parental support for graduating seniors to do their “Homework,” researching Christian campus fellowships and local churches so that they have a broad base for Godly support in their new college environs. I believe he said 70% of "evangelicals" will simply drift away from their faith after entering college. Kyle's message was a good and faithful word, encouraging even our grandparents to minister faithfully to their grandchildren.
Please pray for the three other couples who will join them to garner support for their involvement in Reliant, that their moves would be successful and that they might be of one mind and heart to reach out to students with the love of Christ. Keep in mind, some are newly married with small children to raise and nurture as they minister to college students. So, lets pray Phil 2.1-18 over them, and that, as they abide in Christ, He would bear much fruit through them to His glory & their great joy! Makes me very proud of the legacy our pastor has blossoming from his student ministry days in Fredericksburg.
The Kroeger's official church plant celebration is set for the first weekend in April at College Station. Anyone desiring to attend can find more info at http://fellowshipbcs.org/40th-celebration.
News from Camelback is very encouraging. At their mission launch this past January, they baptized 3 students, commissioned 8 new leaders, and enjoyed the highest attendance ever! Their March newsletter praised God for 3 more baptisms! Bryson said he baptized none of the latest but friends that God used to lead them to the Lord were allowed to baptize them. How exciting to allow such wonderful follow up and participation in the Gospel at work in the lives of students!
They are especially grateful for our support and, more than anything, our continued prayers for the Holy Spirit to greatly use them in the furtherance of the Gospel.
Please keep the Meltons in your prayers. You may recall their daughter was bitten by a shark in Galveston last year. The road to full recovery is a long one. But God causes all things to work together for good to those who love Him and are called according to His purpose. -Romans 8:28
The three Restore families of South Church Kerrville are growing. If you'd be interested in reading updates from each of them, more information is available at kerrville.south-church.com/restore
Pastor Dhan is in an uphill fight, constantly buffeted by persecution and the elements of weather & poverty. The battle belongs to the Lord, and, as Isaiah says, “They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength. They shall mount up on wings as eagles, they shall run and not weary, they shall walk and not faint.”
Hope you enjoyed this update from our Church Planters and are better informed as to how you might keep them in prayer. Lord-willing, I'll provide another update next quarter.
Grateful to be in His Service with you,
