If worshippers leave a service with no thought of becoming more godly in their lives, then the purpose of worship has not been achieved. If they walk away from an assembly without a conviction that they need to conform their lives to Holy Scripture, even if it means changing their lifestyle, then worship has been perverted somewhere.... The clear teaching of Scripture is that genuine worship is life changing.

- Allen Ross, Recalling the Hope of Glory

Life Changing Worship

Genuine worship transforms, makes new, sanctifies (sets apart), and changes our lives! If we are regenerate Christians, salvaged by the Holy Spirit, we know that this regeneration, this sanctification, is never-ending. Our lives have been changed by the Spirit of Christ and, until we are with Him in glory, should be changing daily.

If you believe this then our perspective about what we do on Sunday mornings--and any time we worship the Lord--should be highly exalted! Scripture is the living, breathing Word of God! We are singing Scripture, we are praying Scripture, We are reading Scripture, Paige is preaching Scripture! If it truly is the living Word of God, and we are in communion with the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, gathered in His name... something ought to be happening to us, right?

For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them. -Matthew 18.20

How could we possibly be in His presence and not be changed? If we are His, genuine worship of Him will ensue. By the power of the indwelling Spirit of Christ we will be changed. Conviction, joy, love, and zeal for His glory will control us. A genuine desire to be more holy will overtake us. Worship SHOULD change our lives. And if we belong to Jesus, it will.

For the love of Christ controls us... -2 Corinthians 5.14
